Congratulations to Glynn Radford the new manager of the Under 9's (and all the parents that supported him) for his work in recruiting enough players to form an Under 9's team this season. With the team on the verge of folding Glynn had a week to find at least 10 players to enter the league. He achieved this and more and the team was featured in The Star newspaper on Saturday 18th September.

Our Aims For The U13 Squad

We try to instil the following qualities in all our players:
1. A belief that PERFORMANCES are more important than RESULTS.
2. A positive attitude and team orientated character.
3. A curiosity for the game and willingness to give 100% to reach their potential.
4. The ability to concentrate and blank out the distractions that hinder performance.
5. The open mindedness to re-educate themselves and experiment.
6. The desire to win but not at all costs.
7. A belief that leadership qualities and setting examples are an important aspect of a player’s game.
8. The desire to play attacking football.
9. The desire to work hard for their team mates.
10. Respect for their team mates, opponents and all match officials.

The coaches of this squad aim to create the environment in which every player that has the right attitude can reach his or her full potential. We reject the belief that British youngsters do not have the potential to compete with their Continental counterparts in terms of technical ability and game understanding.

UNDER 13's TOURNAMENT WINNERS

Congratulations to the Under 13's for winning the Maltby Juniors tournament. The team played excellent football and didn't concede a goal throughout. Brilliant performance boys.

Also a mention for the Under 14's who came runners up in their age group despite competing with teams from higher divisions. Well done to all who took part.

Some pictures of the U10s day out to Old Trafford 2nd April. The kids had a fantastic time and were a credit to there parents and the club, it was the icing on the cake to what has been a fantastic season, the lads have done some hard work in training which has paid off and what a transformation from ending last season bottom of the league to what is looking like a top four finish. They have all worked so hard as a team not as individuals with in a team it has been a privilege to be there manager

TOP MARKS FOR THE U12'S AT M&S, MEADOWHALL

On Saturday the 13th March the U12 squad of Norton Lees JFC went on a mission to pack bags like never before at the Meadowhall branch of Marks & Spencer.

As it happened the day was double booked so we had to share half of the tills with one of Sheffield's many Boy Scout Troops and this, regrettably, had a huge impact on the amount of funds we could expect to raise.

From two shifts on the day the lads great efforts managed to raise over £330.00 to put towards the players weekend away in May.

So a big thank you to Marks & Spencer for allowing us to have a slot in the first place and an even bigger thank you to Amanda and Chris Martin for all their help in making it possible.

Players Required For U12 Squad

The Under 12's are looking to add more depth to one squad and are looking for one or two good quality players to join the U12 Squad. The type of players we are looking for in particular are defenders and forwards.

We do not play hoofball or thugball but we do play football with the emphasis on swift attacking play, passing and keeping possession of the ball.

We train on Tuesday evenings at Meadowhead School on their astroturf pitches 6.30pm until 7.30pm.

U6 and U7 Football Training Sessions

Norton Lees Juniors FC are running weekly training sessions for the Under 6 and Under 7 age groups. Ideally your child should be below the age of 7 on the 31st of August.

Focussing on players doing as much work with the ball as possible, the sessions will be aimed towards developing and improving player technique, touch and skill, ball skills, reaction speed and things that will not generally come naturally to 5 and 6 year olds such as simple combination play and awareness. 4 v 4 small sided games so that each player gets plenty of time on the ball.

What we will focus on
· Working with balls at the players feet as much as we can
· Improving the non dominant foot to give two reasonable feet
· Developing skill using different size balls from size 0 to size 3
· 4 v 4 small sided matches using normal footballs or Futsal balls
· Having a lot of laughs along the way

What we will try to avoid / not do
· Excessive queuing and waiting around
· Excessive fitness work
· Running without a ball or purpose

Playing in Division C of the Sheffield & District Junior Sunday League, the Under 12's are holding trials for the U12 Squad at Graves Park on Wednesday evenings in front of the Cobnar Road pavilion / changing rooms. 6pm until 7.30/8.00pm.

We believe that every player that comes to training with the right attitude, with enthusiasm, with the willingness to learn and the desire to experiment and practice in their own time has the opportunity and the potential to compete with our continental counterparts in terms of technical ability and game understanding.

The NLJFC Annual General Meeting is being held on Thursday June the 4th at 8.15pm at the Prince of Wales, Derbyshire Lane.

The South Yorkshire Community Foundation in co-operation with Sheffield United FC has awarded Norton Lees Juniors a small grant of £700.00 as part of their Grassroots Grants Scheme for local community groups. We became aware of the grant due to the incessant chatter of the Stadium Announcer, Gary Sinclair, at Beautiful Downtown Bramall Lane at half time during the match against Derby County and we managed to get the paperwork done in record time and signed off by El Presidente – Dave Winters, on the closing date for submitting applications. The funding will allow us to purchase replacement equipment such as footballs, cones, slalom poles, coloured headbands or bibs and so on and also items of kit for the next seasons U8 team. PROMOTION TO 'A' DIVISION FOR UNDER 12's. RUNNERS UP SPOT FOR UNDER 14's

The Under 12's gained promotion to the top division after picking up 7 points in a week to enable the side to finish 8 points above 4th place Greenhill. The runners up spot sees the team collect their medals at Barnsley Metrodome on Tuesday 12th May. Well done to Chris and the boys.

The Under 14's finished in 2nd place in the 'A' division to go along with their cup success after a nailbiting 3-2 win at Sheffield Rangers. They collect their medals on Thursday 14th May.

Finally the Under 13's finished off their season in style with an 8-0 demolition of Brunsmeer. The team gained promotion a couple of weeks a ago. The photo shows Andy, Mal, Tan and the boys celebrating after Sunday's game.

ALTON TOWERS TRIP
